Packing up and shipping out

Welcome to my new blog. I thought I should start this experience with the fun involved in actually packing up my old life before I begin my new one. This is my last week in Sydney. I finish work on Friday and head to my parents house in Yass to drop off my dog and cat and say goodbye to the old folks for a few days.
This weekend was the 'Bye Bye Sydney Sale' which involved selling everything in my house over a 3 day period. For someone who normally spends her weekends out and about, it was a frustratingly restrictive time. I felt trapped and almost had cabin fever by the end. I did however sell just about everything from my car to my shower curtain. The only thing left to sell is my bed and I have a lovely girl coming to look at that tonight. It is also still on ebay. Fingers crossed. My apartment in Saigon is fully furnished so all I'm taking over with me is some clothes and a couple of photos etc. I'll post some photos of the apartment later. The biggest packing concern I have is in regards to how to take my shoes and my very expensive GLASS scales with me. I'm thinking the scales will have to be snuck into my carry on baggage somehow.
Here are some pics from the sale:

At least the big stuff, sofas, car, tables, washing machine was all sold early in...

The last of it goes out on the street. Thankfully, god sent us a nice sunny day after 2 weeks of solid rain.

Lots of people came and bought things. The best sellers were completely random, things like VHS tapes, old powercords and broken glasses. I couldn't even give away the nice stuff.

I even sold my favourite t-shirt

Suki was the big hit, but with a 2 million dollar price tag - few could afford her!

But she was exhausted by all the attention... it was all too much for her!

Now that I have sold everything I am eating take away everynight and sitting on the floor. Thank god for my comfy bed and laptop or I would be going nuts! I had to give my other pussy cat away but she is very happy in her new home which is great.

Our final house inspection is on Friday morning. My current flatmate has signed a new lease on the house so it's kind of tricky getting it all cleaned up whilst still living in it. I'm sure it will all be fine in the end. I leave for Vietnam on the morning of Wed 7th and arrive that afternoon (and start work the next morning!). I will have a little farewell dinner with some close friends on the Tuesday night which will be lovely.

9 Days to go and starting to get SO excited.......

Love the blog Coco - you'll look back in years to come and have very fond memories of these last few days in Sydney - very brave of you though, I don't think I could leave Suki. Enjoy the balance of your time before departure and thanks for starting this, I'll look forward to travelling the journey with you

cheers

Coco, I loved that T Shirt. Where can I get one. It is so cool. Would it look wrong on a 40 year old.

Good luck. I am envious.
