FAREWELL. SO LONG.

Well, this will be my 'farewell Sydney' post even though I have now been here in Viet Nam for 2 days. But I am sure you want to see what the last few days in Sydney/Yass were like right?

Ok... So I left Sydney on Saturday after a shocker of a morning. I picked up my zoom zoom Camry which was much bigger and more 'mature' than the little Hyundai thing I was expecting. I had to get my shots, drop off things, pick things up and in amongst all that get rid of my bed and pack up to leave. I wouldn't say that leaving the house ended nicely but it certainly made me very glad to leave.

I spent the next few days in Yass settling in Suki. She was highly unimpressed about having to suddenly sleep in a kennel outside in the cold after being accustomed to a bed with an electric blanket and a furry blanket. Dad did however put 'Pyjamas' on her. She was fine after a couple of nights. In fact, she seemed quite settled. I always joke that Suki is a bit 'simple' but I seriously don't think she understood what was going on and just went with the flow. Nova (my cat) was a bit more on the ball and is pretty much living in my bedroom there at the moment. Below is a photo of my parents with the 'girls' on their new double doggy lead. Cute eh? (you can see my folks are not exactly overjoyed to know have 2 dogs)

I got to see one of my best friends DG in Canberra on Sunday and say a proper goodbye and then pretty much just prepared myself for the big move. Unfortunately my brother is very sick in hospital with some kind of virus that he may have picked up in Shanghai a couple of weeks ago. So when I returned to Sydney on Tuesday I went and saw him to say goodbye. Not a nice way as he looked like shite but apparently is improving which is good. I then went and saw his gorgeous wife Ellie and the munchkin that they bore Rory the Roarer. He is so edible. This is his mummy holding him and then me holding him (and trying not to eat him!)

Tuesday night I had my farewell dinner with some of my closest friends. Of course, we had Vietnamese and then went to cocktails on King St. Yum! It was fun... and not at all emotional simply due to the fact that I was so excited and thanks to things like messenger and facebook I know that we won't lose touch. My friend Cass has been AMAZING the last few weeks, helping me with everything. She kindly lent me her bed for my final night in Sydney and then came to the airport with me to say goodbye. Below is the 'gang' on my beloved King Street

Excess baggage was fun... NOT! I had to repack my bag twice to get it the right weight and so more than enough people got to see my knickers going from one bag to another. All sorted in the end. .My flight was delayed by a couple of hours but eventually I got on the plane. Vietnam Airlines is great... I don't know why anyone would hesitate with them. The food is fine, the entertainment is good (personal screens) and the Aussie pilots are um... yeah... anyway.

I opened up my Vietnamese language books and settled in for 8 hours of 'normality' before arriving in crazy town Saigon.

Coco the farewell sounds wonderful. Poor little Suki having to behave like a dod indeed - not fair and if I were your parents she'd be inside and at the foot of my bed. Cheers Paulaelse
