A MORE TRUE PICTURE

Ok, I think I may be giving you the wrong idea about living here in Vietnam. It's been just over a week now and although Phu My Hung is amazing... it really isn't anything like the rest of this city, or country.

So here's some photos of what it REALLY looks like... everyday... in real life. There are also some videos which I took from my cab the other day going to work. Enjoy...

Yes. The vietnamese REALLy do where conical hats. A lot. Even in the city. It still spins my dial. I love ths shot. It's so stereotypical and yes this is really it.

A 'Florist' selling all kinds of strange flower arrangements. Some for funerals... weddings etc.

More classic back street shots.

One day I am going to do a blog about all the strange things I see people carrying on the back of motorbikes. I've seen washing machines, pigs, plasma tv's, hard drives, glass windows, doors... anything goes. This ladder reminded me of Joanne. :)

Helmets became mandatory last year and around 90% of people where them which is amazing. There are heavy fines if you are busted. What I can't get over is how many men where pink helmets!

This one's for my Daddy..., this is a big vietnamese service stations. Most people just fill up in little shops on back streets.

Vrooom Vrooom.... being stuck in a taxi can be totally frustrating some days when you see all the bikes just zoom past you. There are some really cute vespas around too. I'm very tempted but only would ride it around expatville.

I really have no idea waht this guy was transporting. I think it might have been garbage... either way he was coming the wrong way up the street and we almost flattened him.

A vietamese jewellery story. I can only tell this by the diamond picture. I think the word "my" like that means american? not sure.

A street florist vendor. The fresh flowers here are AMAZING!

Breakfast time in Ho Chi Minh. Sitting around on plastic stools eating PHO or other cooked dishes. The smells drive me insane in the morning. Makes me so hungry.

And last by not least. Fresh fruits. I'm still trying to figure out what some of them are... but it's all fun and games. :)

And now for some videos. This is the main road going to work... and then more back streets fun.

I'll do another post of the weekend about what's actually going on but it's all fine. No big dramas, just a few little hiccups here and there. Overall I'm really enjoying it. More soon....

Wow, I had no idea that you were off to such an exotic destination.

I have really missed your old blog but loads to catch up on here!

On the helments - apparently some places are known for having inspectors, and here, apparently, places have popped up where you can hire a helment on one end, ride the road and not get caught, then return it on the other side!
