So it's been not quite a week and so far so good. My apartment is feeling a lot more like 'home' and work is starting to get some focus.
I've almost sorted out the whole 'getting a taxi to work' thing - but not quite. I think I'll have it down pat by the end of the week. I need to stick with the one company Mai Linh or I get ripped off big time (or lost or broken down). We went out for a few beers after work last night to welcome another new guy, an American who is head of Art and has just moved from Shanghai. Cool dude and so nice to have someone so passionate around everyday.
So works getting better and better as I settle in more. There is so much to do and so many changes to make. We are completely rebrand and pretty much rebuilding a local agency. New office, new culture, new philosophy. It's so exciting but damn hard too.
Life here can be a bit exhausting. Even the smallest tasks can be stressful. Last night I had to buy cleaning products as my maid started today. Luckily I have a 'supermarket' kind of thing down the road open until 10pm. Buying the actual products however was another problem. I just stood there looking at all these whacked out packing having no idea what to get. Of course the brands are not familiar (except some) and I can't read the vietnamese packaging so I just have to guess by looking at the pictures. I guessed the blue stuff with the window on it was like windex and the white bottle with some tile pictures was floor clean etc.
I came home tonight to a lovely sparkling clean apartment and all my washing done. Woohoo! Can't say I love the idea of someone being in my apartment twice a week but I aint complaining either. It's quite lovely.
Decided to try the pizza place downstairs for dinner tonight and it was good. They deliver too so I think that will be a bit of a regular. I went to the cafe next to my super dooper cafe this morning for breakfast - and it was BAD... think I'll stick to my place 'cafe terrace'. And yes... I do eat breakfast, lunch and dinner out at the moment. I'm sure in time i'll settle in and start cooking but I could of like getting out and about amongst it. Well... at least around here I do. It's lushville.
I have to interview some people at work tomorrow or some junior roles. Could be very interesting depending on their grasp of english. Then again... it's all interesting. That's why I am here in the first place. :)
